Melissa Jones
director of Research
Melissa is a first-year student at Harvard College from Prince George’s County, Maryland. She plans on majoring in Biomedical Engineering on the pre-med track. Melissa is passionate about understanding and eliminating disparities in health and education in the US. In working towards the first of these two goals, Melissa leads the Accountability in Action Project, an initiative that aims to produce visualizations and datasets that highlight key socioeconomic disparities at a county-level and encourage action from local stakeholders. She has been working towards the latter goal through Today and Tomorrow, an organization she founded which provides free college mentorship and workshops to students in her county. During her free time, Melissa enjoys hiking, board games, and meeting new people. Through We Got Us, Melissa looks forward to better understanding vaccine hesitancy and empowering the Black community to be advocates for their health.
